UN Human Rights Office calls for an independent inquiry into the apparent killing by the security forces of at least 8 people during protests in Nyala, Darfur, Sudan. The office is also concerned about the persecution of bloggers, as well as violence against gay and lesbian activists in Liberia. http://bit.ly/QzBUtX

Welcoming home returning IDPs in Sudan: Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) returned to their original village, Sehjanna, after living seven years in an IDP camp in Aramba. They are welcomed by relatives and friends who stayed back. The voluntary repatriation program is organized by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Sudanese Humanitarian Aid Commission.
