>> Ma Ganga Retreat above Rishikesh, India <<
Retreats and Tours Developed by the American Institute of Vedic Studies
We are happy to announce that our third annual Inner Tantric Yoga Experience: Ma Ganga Retreat, March 9-14, 2010 is now open for early registration. It will feature deeper teachings for serious students and sadhaks and special interaction with Vamadeva and Shambhavi by the sacred Ganga river in a quiet resort above Rishikesh. The resultant experience is transformative and life-changing.
The program will emphasize ritual, mantra, pranayama and meditation to connect one directly to the Shiva and Shakti forces of the Himalayas that represent the soul of India. Shambhavi teaches special mantras and does unique chanting programs for the students. Students are expected from all over the world including from the United States, India, Brazil, Russia and Germany. The retreat is a spiritual celebration of life and the Ganga that can both purify and energize us at a deep level.
The retreat is arranged with the help of Deepak Singh of >Spiritual Journeys,< whom you will contact for registration and other issues of your India trip. Deepak is easy to communicate with and has years of experience in the travel and program business.
The retreat will be followed by a ten day Yogini Yatra tour to Himalayan Shakti temples, March 14-25, which is a separate booking, note below.
The retreat coincides with the Kumbha Mela in Haridwar and comes after the International Yoga Festival at Parmarth Niketan in Rishikesh, March 1-7 (where both Vamadeva and Shambhavi will be teaching). One can attend all these events to enrich one’s experience of India and the Himalayas.
Yogini Yatra Himalayan Tour, March 14-25, 2010
We are also happy to note the opening of our first Himalayan tour following the Ma Ganga retreat. The tour will focus on important Devi and Shiva temples in the Kumaon region above Almora, in the Ranikhet, Binsar, >Jageshwar < and Dunageri areas, including several days at the famous >Binsar Nature Preserve< at 7000 feet in forests of red flowering Himalayan rhodendron trees.
The tour will include special rituals and meditation at various temples with Vamadeva and Shambhavi, as well as sight seeing and exploring the beauty of the Himalayas, with breathtaking views of >Nanda Devi,< Trishul and other high Himalayan summits. Participants will be taken to special sacred sites that westerners seldom visit. The tour will coincide with the spring Navaratri or nine nights of worshipping the Goddess, which is celebrated with great color and festivity in the Himalayas. It ends with Ram Navami or the birthday of Lord Rama.
Registration is limited to twenty participants. Preference will be given to retreat participants but others are welcome. Contact will be with Kanika Tripathi, who is directing the yatra on the India side. We are planning future retreats in India, Hawaii and Brazil. Our retreats provide a deeper teaching, particularly relatiive to spiritual practices, and more intimate interaction than our training programs.
Note our >itinerary< for other retreats and programs that we may participating in along with various groups and organizations, including Tathaastu magazine, Kripalu Yoga center and Sivananda Yoga Farm. .
